What makes a good tip

Specifics over speculation. "I heard the Padres are calling up their No. 3 prospect Friday" is useful. "The Padres might make a move soon" is not. Names, dates, details.

Transactions and roster moves. Trade chatter, waiver claims, option decisions, DFA candidates. If front offices are having conversations, we want to know about it.

Data that tells a story. Noticed a pitcher whose spin rates dropped 200 RPM over the last three starts? A hitter whose launch angle changed after a mechanical adjustment? Send it with the numbers.

Historical connections. Did something happen today that echoes 1969 or 2001 or last Tuesday? The game has 150 years of context and we love using it.

What happens next

We read everything. Not every tip becomes a story, but the good ones shape what we cover. If you want to stay anonymous, say so.
